{"id":1734,"date":"2020-01-30T12:13:24","date_gmt":"2020-01-30T11:13:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.theofficialboard.com\/best-articles\/?p=1734"},"modified":"2020-06-02T13:47:54","modified_gmt":"2020-06-02T12:47:54","slug":"navigating-the-rising-tide-of-uncertainty","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.theofficialboard.com\/best-articles\/2020-01\/navigating-the-rising-tide-of-uncertainty\/","title":{"rendered":"Navigating the rising tide of uncertainty"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p style=\"text-align:center\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pwc.com\/gx\/en\/ceo-survey\/2020\/reports\/pwc-23rd-global-ceo-survey.pdf\"><em>Viewed in pwc.com.<\/em><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>PriceWaterhouse Coopers (PwC) is the second largest professional services firm in the world. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The range of their interactions with companies and these companies\u2019 leadership is vast, which makes their reports hugely valuable contributions to public knowledge of trends in the corporate world and in the economy as a whole.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>PwC\u2019s annual survey of CEOs<\/strong> is one of the firm\u2019s most valuable such contributions, and the 2020 survey is particularly enlightening as it relates the executives\u2019 perspective on corporate and economic trends. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The news, unfortunately, is not particularly optimistic. \u201cFor the first time, more than half of the CEOs we surveyed believe <strong>the rate of global GDP growth will decline<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This caution has translated into CEOs\u2019 low confidence in their own organization\u2019s outlook. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Only 27 percent of CEOs are \u2018very confident\u2019 in their prospects for revenue growth in 2020, a low level not seen since 2009,\u201d PwC\u2019s \u201c23<sup>rd<\/sup> Annual&nbsp; Global CEO Survey,\u201d released in January 2020, reports. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Aside from some optimism about immediate economic prospects, three other macro conclusions emerged from the PwC survey. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>First, CEOs see a coming wave of <strong>legislation around internet regulation<\/strong> that will prove consequential to companies and the economy generally. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Second, while <strong>upgrading skills in organizations remains a vital priority<\/strong>, the challenges in finding and recruiting talent is an immense challenge, especially with the United States and other economies experiencing historically tight labor markets. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And, third, as the world and private sector, grows increasingly <strong>concerned about climate change<\/strong>, private sector reforms around it represent both a threat and an opportunity. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Companies in Western Europe and Asia-Pacific appear most advanced in their understanding of this reality while those in the Middle East appear \u201ccomparatively behind.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>PwC\u2019s survey of global CEOs is among the world\u2019s most thorough, including the perspective of 1581 CEOs in 83 territories.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Viewed in pwc.com.
