Too often, Russell Reynolds senior member Anthony Goodman writes, <strong>its comes down to \u201cwho do we know?\u201d<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Such an approach might breed comfort, and sometimes may even work. But it is not the way to go about selecting a board member, Goodman says. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Such selections must be based on long-term strategy, and that means \u201ca candid analysis of <strong>the board\u2019s current composition<\/strong>, identifying future needs and developing a <strong>long-term strategy<\/strong> for board recruitment,\u201d he writes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The use of outside advisors often is helpful in the process.
