{"id":1809,"date":"2020-07-07T19:40:09","date_gmt":"2020-07-07T18:40:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.theofficialboard.com\/best-articles\/?p=1809"},"modified":"2020-07-08T10:46:55","modified_gmt":"2020-07-08T09:46:55","slug":"fortune-survey-62-of-ceos-plan-policy-changes-in-response-to-current-calls-for-racial-justice","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.theofficialboard.com\/best-articles\/2020-06\/fortune-survey-62-of-ceos-plan-policy-changes-in-response-to-current-calls-for-racial-justice\/","title":{"rendered":"Fortune survey: 62% of CEOs plan policy changes in response to current calls for racial justice"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p style=\"text-align:center\"><a href=\"https:\/\/fortune.com\/2020\/06\/17\/fortune-survey-62-of-ceos-plan-policy-changes-in-response-to-current-calls-for-racial-justice\/\">Viewed in <em>Fortune<\/em><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p> The global economy was already rattled with coronavirus-related job losses and other economic damage when social unrest related to the May 25 killing of George Floyd emerged. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The dual crises are proving immensely challenging to the global economy\u2014and to the CEOs that run many of the world\u2019s companies.\u00a0 \u00a0 <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\" style=\"text-align:center\">\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSo\nhow are these CEOs responding? \n\n\n\n<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p> In collaboration with accounting giant Deloitte, <em>Fortune <\/em>magazine presented that question to 222 CEOs between June 8 and June 12. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The findings point to broader trends as companies navigate the unexpected and largely unprecedented public health and social justice challenges they now confront. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\" style=\"text-align:center\">Among the findings<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p><strong> Sixty-two percent of CEOs plan policy changes<\/strong> in light of the Floyd killing, including \u201creevaluating sales of certain products, implementing anti-racism training, and changing hiring practices.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The economic recovery is coming at varying speeds<\/strong>. Over half (51 percent) of CEOs expect their revenues to be fully recovered by this January. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Some companies <strong>(19 percent) actually increased their hirin<\/strong>g during the crises. <\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>But a greater number<strong> (41 percent) furloughed or laid off workers<\/strong> or reduced their pay. In the United States, some 21 million Americans had lost their jobs as of May, though a record number of jobs created in May and June have raised some hopes that a recovery is underway. <\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Many companies have <strong>increased investments in some functional areas<\/strong>, including <strong>workplace safety<\/strong> (50 percent), <strong>IT infrastructure <\/strong>(40 percent), and <strong>innovation<\/strong> (36 percent).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\" style=\"text-align:center\">Remote Work<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p> Perhaps most obviously, but confirmed in this survey, companies have vastly expanded their remote work in light of the pandemic. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to CEOs surveyed, 13 percent of company employees were working remotely before the coronavirus. By June 2020, however, that number had grown to 73 percent.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But what does the future hold for remote work? By January 2021, CEOs anticipate the number of remote workers will fall to 43 percent and, by January 2022, to 36 percent. \u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\" style=\"text-align:center\">Conclusion<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p>While employees\u00a0 incrementally make their way back to work, the numbers will be fewer\u2014and work as we knew it pre-coronavirus likely will never be the same with a vastly greater number ultimately working remotely.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Viewed in Fortune The global economy was already rattled with coronavirus-related job losses and other economic damage when social unrest related to the May 25 killing of George Floyd emerged.
