{"id":1813,"date":"2020-08-03T10:30:01","date_gmt":"2020-08-03T09:30:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.theofficialboard.com\/best-articles\/?p=1813"},"modified":"2020-08-03T10:31:58","modified_gmt":"2020-08-03T09:31:58","slug":"upskill-and-reskill-why-skill-development-is-key-to-future-success","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.theofficialboard.com\/best-articles\/2020-07\/upskill-and-reskill-why-skill-development-is-key-to-future-success\/","title":{"rendered":"Upskill and reskill: Why skill development is key to future success"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p style=\"text-align:center\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.topchro.com\/article\/upskill-and-reskill-why-skill-development-is-key-to-future-success\">Viewed in <em>Top CHRO<\/em><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The coronavirus pandemic is challenging global companies in so many ways it is almost difficult to keep up with all of them. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But the challenge of employee skill development during the pandemic, especially including developing employee skills in a largely remote work environment, is right up there among the biggest such challenges. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Skill development is a growing challenge<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p>Top CHRO, which provides informative guidance to chief human research officers, is instructive in reminding us that the challenge of skill development was immense even before the pandemic&#8211;and it has become incrementally more challenging throughout it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Surveys of company executives validate the magnitude of the problem: according to a McKinsey survey,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\">87 percent of executives \u201ccurrently see or expect workforce skill gaps\u201d <\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p>But nearly half also concede that they do not know exactly how to address the problem.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>CHRO contends that what companies need is a talent strategy\u2014and these strategies must address both current corporate needs and anticipated future talent needs. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The largely technical forces that were driving corporate skill shortages have accelerated during the past few months of the pandemic. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Digital capabilities, as well as skills in adaptation, cognition and emotion. <\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p>What is needed now, CHRO says, is \u201ca broad agenda of reskilling and upskilling\u201d that enhances \u201cdigital capabilities as well as skills in adaptation, cognition, and emotion.\u201d &nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Viewed in Top CHRO The coronavirus pandemic is challenging global companies in so many ways it is almost difficult to keep up with all of them.
