Mega-deals above $10 billion surged. TMT regained the top spot. Private equity is sitting on $2.2 trillion of dry powder. Divestitures reached $1.6 trillion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This is not a short-term bounce. It reflects deeper repositioning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Secure exposure and increase speed<\/strong><\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p>Across sectors, leadership teams are using M&amp;A less as a financial lever and more as a way to respond to disruption, secure capabilities, and accelerate moves that would take years organically. Only a minority of executives feel fully confident navigating geopolitical, technological, and regulatory shocks alone. Transactions are becoming a way to reshape exposure and move faster.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Growth is  concentrating.<\/strong><\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p>AI, digital infrastructure, advanced manufacturing, and other fast-scaling sectors now account for a much larger share of deal value than two decades ago. Multiples are higher. Competition is sharper. The premium reflects urgency.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Active portfolio management<\/strong><\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p>At the same time, portfolios are being reshaped. Divestitures are up. Activist campaigns are up. Boards are reviewing what belongs inside the perimeter of the firm more frequently. Focus is no longer a slogan. Capital markets enforce it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-align-center\">For the VP M&amp;A, 2026 looks different.<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p>According to The Official Board data, one in four Global Fortune 500 C-suites now includes a dedicated VP M&amp;A. That signals institutionalization. Dealmaking is embedded in leadership rhythm and coordinated across strategy, finance, operations, technology, and regions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Among the most active teams, a few patterns stand out:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>A shorter, sharper target list.<\/strong> The most prepared companies maintain a constantly refreshed shortlist of priority targets aligned with strategic gaps. Speed is an advantage when windows open.<br><br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Talent and technology at the center of valuation.<\/strong> In many recent transactions, the hardest asset to replicate is not plant or product but teams, data, and digital capability. These factors are increasingly shaping deal theses.<br><br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Portfolio review as a habit.<\/strong> Regular reviews reduce friction when divestitures become necessary. Companies that move early tend to control the narrative and the terms.<br><br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Integration as a structural reset.<\/strong> Large consolidations are back. Success depends less on announcement impact and more on what happens quietly afterward: reporting lines, decision rights, and accountability. That is often where the first changes appear on an org chart.<br><br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Regional balance.<\/strong> The Americas dominate mega-deals, while Asia\u2013Pacific and EMEA are redefining industrial policy, valuations, and cross-border flows. Capital is moving with intent.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>M&amp;A activity is rising.
