\"Twitter<\/a>Last November, when I was attending Dreamforce<\/a> in San Francisco, I saw many friends using Twitter intensively for their professional life. At the same time, almost all Salesforce presenters were providing their Twitter ID rather than their professional email. It was time for me learn about this trend and open my own Twitter account!<\/span><\/p>\n

At the same time, I wanted to examine our collected data to understand what was going on with Twitter in the global corporate world.\u00a0First, I looked at how the 1,000 most popular executives on the planet were using their Twitter accounts.<\/p>\n

How executives use Twitter<\/b><\/center>
\n\"Twitter<\/a>12% of top executives have public Twitter accounts.<\/b>
\n\u2022 Their highest share by continent is in the US and in Asia.
\n\u2022 Their highest share by industry is in Media and High tech.
\n\u2022 18% of them have fewer than 50 followers.
\n\u2022 20% of them have more than 10,000 followers.
\n\u2022 16% of them are women.<\/p>\n

1% of the 1,000 top executives have more than 100,000 followers.<\/b>
\n\u2022 3 are women: Marissa Mayer<\/a> (Yahoo!), Meg Whitman<\/a>(HP) & Sheryl Sandberg<\/a> (Facebook).
\n\u2022 2 work for non-US companies: Emilio Azcarraga Jean (Grupo Televisa)<\/a>; Karl Lagerfeld (Chanel)<\/a>.
\n\u2022 Bill Gates<\/a> is #1 with 14.7M followers.<\/p>\n

\nTwitter remains exclusive within the top 1,000 most popular executives. It is used by only 12% of them and concentrated in the U.S. Media and the U.S. High Tech. The top 10 executives grab over 98% of the total number of followers.<\/p>\n
