In 2001, he was awarded the Harvard Medal for outstanding service to Harvard University. In 2003, the Hong Kong Government awarded Dr. Fung the Gold Bauhinia Star and, in 2010, the Grand Bauhinia Medal for his distinguished service to the Hong Kong community. In 2011, he was awarded the MIT Sloan Dean's Award for Excellence in Leadership.
