Five Apps for Human Resources Managers

Amidst the now million apps available for smartphones, there are abundant options. Last month, we highlighted five apps that are promising and helpful to Chief Financial Officers (CFOs).  This month, we feature five intriguing apps helpful to executives who manage human resources functions.

Today’s HR manager has many needs but two things are predominant: Access to useful, relevant, timely information on the HR function and, secondly, resources that allow them to perform all of these functions within the limited timeframe of a workday. Given these challenges facing today’s HR manager, here are five apps an HR manager will find useful in enhancing their efficiencies and effectiveness as they manage the increasingly complex and critically important human resource function:

SmartRecruiters: Today’s HR manager has no HR - SmartRecruitersshortage of online and app resources available for recruitment purposes, and the reality is that no singular source likely ever meets a recruiting need completely since there are many positive attributes to most of the brand-name job search sites.  But SmartRecruiters allows a corporate recruiter to manage the recruitment and hiring process, maintaining candidate information, the state of their application, open positions in an organization—and all of this in a way that integrates the app’s information with the hiring executives.  SmartRecruiters offers a worthy app that makes the challenging hiring process a little less challenging. HR Suite: HR Suite offers the HR manager and Mobile HR Suiteemployees a useful app for the management of employee time sheets and leave requests.  The app can be synced with backend systems to offer both the convenience and accuracy to detail necessary with the management of employee hours and time off.  (Free)

Evernote: Human Resources inevitably include lotsMobile - HR - Evernote of data and information management and the simultaneous management of multiple responsibilities.  The Evernote app permits the HR manager to keep and track notes, maintain contact information (including a scanning function for business cards).  Evernote also offers a convenient voice recording function that permits recording of reminders and the like.  Overall, Evernote is a very helpful app for organizing ideas, information and contacts.  (Free)

Workforce Management magazine: There is no HR - WorkForce Management Magazineshortage of business and management publications, most filled with intriguing and useful information relevant to the HR manager.  But Workforce Management magazine has the additional benefit of being a media outlet dedicated nearly exclusively to the HR profession.  The magazine’s app offers a wealth of information to the HR professional: news, profiles, information on HR-related events and conferences, and overall up-to-date coverage on the profession.  (Free)
